Hello Recreation Residence Permit Holders,

The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the El Dorado County portion of the Caldor Fire Burn Scar from Saturday night through Monday.. Periods of heavy rainfall, potentially over ½ inch per hour are forecasted which may lead to flooding, debris flows, potential landslides, and road washouts.

Because of the very real threat to human life and safety this upcoming storm poses, I am temporarily revoking all FS-7700-48 closure exemptions from Saturday, October 23rd to Tuesday, October 26th, for cabin permit holders within the Caldor Fire footprint. The FS-7700-48 exemption permit will remain valid after that point per the terms of the exemption form, in most cases through October 31, 2021.

We will have storm patrols out within the fire footprint, safely inspecting and resolving clogged culverts and other road concerns. These crews will do their best to limit any potential damage to USFS infrastructure from this storm.

As always, you are encouraged to check the Eldorado National Forest website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/eldorado/ for updates. Of interest are:
