Good morning! I am attaching an email that was sent out by the NFH- it recaps Thursday’s meeting and it includes a link to the video of the meeting. If you weren’t able to attend it is definitely worth your time to watch.
Of utmost importance is to look for a letter and/or email from the USFS in the next few weeks. It will explain the clean up program and we only have TWO weeks to submit our form (ROE-Right of Entry). Many of us filled a similar ROE form out just after the fire and submitted it to the county. This is a similar but different form and you must submit or you will be excluded from the FEMA cleanup program.
Have a great weekend!
Caldor Post-Fire MessageMay 21, 2022 Impacted Caldor Fire Cabin Owners, In an attempt to reach all impacted Caldor Fire cabin owners, we are forwarding the important message below from the Caldor Cabin Owners Recovery Project (CCORP). We realize many of you received this message yesterday directly from CCORP, so please accept our apologies if this is a duplication. Here is the link to last nights Zoom meeting with special guests, Scot Rogers, District Ranger Eldorado National Forest and Moke Auwae, El Dorado County Caldor Fire Recovery. . Link to Video passcode: g^kyEa2C As previously announced but just in case someone missed the meeting and the other email messages, the debris removal process will be conducted by Cal OES. FEMA will reimburse them for 90% of the costs. California will cover the other 10%. If a cabin owners elects to participate in the program there will be no costs to them. Scot and Moke answered a lot of questions in the video including deadlines, communication, insurance. There is a partial list of questions at the end of this message. Cal OES and El Dorado County are still finishing up the final details. They hope to have them completed in a week or two. The important thing will be the Right To Entry (ROE) form. This will be similar to the one most of us signed last fall but it is different and you will need to complete the new ROE once it is available. Cal OES is planning on making the form available electronically. Moke said people who filled out the electronic version that was used for the private landowners made far less mistakes. You will be sent a hard copy via mail to the permit holder’s address by either the county or Cal OES. You will have two weeks to return the form. We will send out email with links and additional information as soon as we it. The Forest Service will also send out email if they have your email address as well as phone calls. If you haven’t been getting email directly from the FS and would like to, please send me email with your tract, lot # and email address and I will get it added to the FS list. We always forward any email messages we get from the FS to this group so even if the FS doesn’t have your email address you should still get the information from us. If there is interest, we will probably hold a special Zoom session on how to fill out the ROE form. If you have questions that were not answered in the meeting or video, please send me email and I will get answers. I know we didn’t get all the questions answered or had incomplete answers. Finally, there is still time to take our survey about what is important to you beyond debris removal. The final deadline is Mon end of the day. Here are some of the questions answered during the meeting: Where to get the forms, deadlines? What happens if I don’t sign the “ROE” form?I signed the county’s ROE form last fall. Can that be used now? (Answer: No, the form is different, for example, trees are excluded…) Timelines for cleanup? When might my lot be completed? Is there some place I can look at the progress of the cleanup on my lot? What about septic systems? If I had some insurance for debris cleanup, how is that handled? How will I be notified my lot is complete? Hazard trees If I don’t think I’m rebuilding what will be left for me to return the lot back to natural condition that is not covered by Cal OES? Can I be present for the cleanup? From Cal OES Q&A. “Yes, however, exclusion zones will be established surrounding the work area to ensure safety, and property owners may not enter these zones during debris removal. These zones will be marked with yellow and red tape. The safety of the general public and workers is a priority during debris operations. To prevent safety hazards, the public is encouraged to stay away from areas where debris removal operations are underway.” Can I keep my Chimneys or foundations? Thank You ![]() |
